Sri Lanka Deputy High Commission in Chennai Hosts an ‘IFTAR’

Chennai, 03 August, (Asiantribune.com):

The government of Sri Lanka is determined to prevent any inter-communal tension at any cost and the Muslims in Sri Lanka are getting a good opportunity to use the noble phenomena of the Ramadhan fasting for peaceful coexistence, said Mr. A.S. Khan, Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Southern India.

In his welcome address at the ‘ifthar’ programme organized by the Sri Lanka Deputy High Commission in Chennai on 31st July 2013 at the new Chancery premises, the Deputy High Commissioner also said there is always indivisible bond between the people of Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu. He also invited Indian business community to explore the vast opportunities in Sir Lanka.

Dignitaries from the Muslim community in Tamil Nadu representing the Government, academia, business and media participated at the ‘Iftar’. Prominent political and spiritual leaders were also present. Heads of Sri Lanka establishments in Tamil Nadu also participated at the event.

After the ‘Iftar’ followed ‘Magrib’ Prayers, by the Chief Quazi of Tamil Nadu, Dr.Slahuddin Mohammed Ayub and Mr. Mohammed Imran Sait of Islamic Foundation Trust spoke about the significance of Ramadan.
