Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the UN Promotes Sri Lankan Airlines

New York, 30 August, (Asiantribune.com):

Sri Lankan Mission in New York to promote Sri Lankan Airlines in America. Speaking at a promotion meeting at the permanent Mission in New York , Sri Lanka’s Ambassador Palitha Kohona highlighted the airline’s award winning record; it’s ever growing number of destinations and its latest achievement of being invited to join the One world group of airlines.

The Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in New York hosted a reception in honour of Mr. Nishantha Wickremasinghe, the Chairman of Sri Lankan airlines on 27th August 2013 who was visiting New York. This event was also designed to promote Sri Lankan Airlines and Sri Lanka tourism.

The reception attracted a crowd of over 120 eminent business professionals, avid global travelers, fashion icons, travel agents, tour operators and media personalities.

The guests were treated to an evening of entertainment by the cabin crew of Sri Lankan Airlines, who performed several dance routines clad in the costumes representing the island’s rich dancing traditions. Guests were also able to view videos which showcased Sri Lanka’s natural beauty, UNESCO listed heritage sites andit’s booming development.

Speaking to the gathering, emphasized Sri Lanka’s positive social indicators, the continuous expansion of its economy and the ease of doing business, which would make it the ideal destination for any investor.

Ambassador Kohona highlighted the airline’s award winning record; it’s ever growing number of destinations and its latest achievement of being invited to join the One world group of airlines.

Additionally, Ambassador Kohona waxed eloquent on the investment potential of Sri Lanka, especially in the hospitality industry and infrastructure development projects.

He highlighted the two important events which Sri Lanka will host, the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in November along with the Commonwealth Business Forum and the World Conference on Youth in 2014.

Mr. Nishantha Wickremasinghe, who took the floor after Ambassador Kohona, expressed his sincere thanks to the Mission and Ambassador Kohona for organizing the event. He asked all those present to promote the airline and to visit Sri Lanka and see first-hand the diverse tourist attractions the island had to offer.

The spectacular evening came to a conclusion with a Sri Lankan banquet and music by a celebrated Sri Lankan musician in New York, Mr. Cecil Fernando.
