PR minister steals the show from HR commissioner

By S.H.Moulana - Riyadh

Since the arrival of UN Human Rights High Commissioner, Navenethan Pillay, in the island, she is headline news in every newspaper, although many of those were not in favor of her activities, she was still in the news.

The person who was hitherto in the limelight was personally feeling bad about it. So, he did overtime in thinking very hard as to how he could displace her and get back his rightful place in the press.

Yes, he got a brainwave by proposing himself to the lady, who is dominating the news now. The PR minister Dr. Mervyn Silva proposed himself to the HR commissioner, Navi Pillay to marry her while addressing a function.

Dr. Mervyn is three years junior to Pillay and both are married.

However the minister’s offer is mainly to teach the UN High Commissioner about our country’s history and take her on a conducted tour of the island.

We learn that the minister, who is now 69 and the High Commissioner, who is 72 years of age. Despite whether the marriage will realistically take place or not, with so many obstacles between them, but one thing is sure that it has given nearly a knock-out blow for the visitor by either beating or sharing the headlines with her in almost all the newspapers.

There isn’t a single media which has not carried this news. The old boy of Mahinda Vidyalaya, Maligakanda, knows exactly what to do and at what time.

However, we have not heard any positive or negative response yet from the girl from Harvard University – Law School.

May be she would have seen dozens of jokes from the PR minister in the You Tube.

No hard feelings lady, our minister is a good humored person!
