Argentina and Sri Lanka discuss to strengthen relations

Buenos Aires, 25 September, (Asiantribune.com):

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Brazil, Raja Edirisuriya met the Acting Foreign Minister Eduardo A. Zuain, Ambassdor and Director General Mrs. Maria Cristina Boldovini- Asia & Oceania in Argentina.

The meeting took place in Buenos Aires on September 05th of 2013.

Ambassador Maria Cristina Boldovini requested a Sri Lanka trade mission to visit Argentina in order to generate more business opportunities between the two countries. As per the recent trade statistics, Sri Lanka exports items including tea and apparels to Argentina with a value of US$ 9.48 million where Argentina exports items including meat products, wine and fabrics, to Sri Lanka with value of US$ 4.22 million.

Mrs. Maria Cristina Boldovini discussed the assistance that is available in the area of pest control in agriculture sector, heavy machinery and agriculture related decease controlled applications. Also she highlighted the requirement of an enhanced effort to promote Sri Lanka in Argentina.

Ambassador Raja A. Edirisuriya, participated in wreath laying ceremony at the monument to General San Martin after the presentation of credential for the Vice President of Argentina LIC. Amado Boudou.

Ambassador Edirisuriya invited Argentina to participate in the Commonwealth Business Forum, which will be held in Sri Lanka from 12 – 14 November 2013, identifying it as an excellent opportunity for Argentine representatives to meet 54 Head of States from Commonwealth nations and participants from over 2000 business organizations.
