Decision on the nomination of the 4-member Board of Ministers to Northern Provincial Council - Eludes

The Tamil National Alliance has still not finalized the selection of the four- member Board of Ministers for the Northern Provincial Council.

In the last Tamil National Alliance Representative Group meet, Asian Tribune learnt that no decision has been arrived on the selection of the Ministers.

Sources told Asian Tribune that Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchchi has indicated that they need to have two ministers in the – 4-member board of ministers.

At the last Representative Group meeting, ITAK has informed that they plan to nominate Dr. P.Saththiyalingham, the councilor elect from Vavuniya as the Minister of Health and T. Kurukularajah, councilor elect from Kilinochchi as the Minister of Education.

Already TELO informed that they have decided to nominate M.K.Sivajilingham as their nominee to be the minister.

This announcement to the Representative Group Meeting was made by its leader Selvam Adaikalanathan M.P., but later he made a press statement that as he has failed fulfill his promise of nominating a person from Mannar as one of the ministers, he wanted to resign from the TELO leadership as the TELO presidium decided on M.K.Sivaji Lingham – a councilor elect from Jaffna district much against his wishes.

In the meantime, Mr. Sampanthan told the last Representative Group meeting that Chief Minister Mr. Vigneswaran would be the person, who will nominate the 4 ministers to the provincial council.

Asian Tribune learnt that once Chief Minister elect Vigneswaran complete the legal process of swearing in before the duly elected President of Sri Lanka this morning, then he is expected to finalize his ministers.

Furthermore, according to reports the swearing in of the nominated board of ministers, Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Council and the elected TNA Councilors will take place on the 11th of this month before the TNA Leader R.Sampanthan.
