Inthirarasa the last TNA Councilor to vow to uphold the Sri Lanka Constitution

Colombo, 19 October, (Asiantribune.com):

Inthirarasa Thiyagarasa - from EPRLF elected from Vavuniya district took oaths yesterday before Northern Provincial Council Chief Minister C.V.Vigneswaran.

He took his oaths at the Vali Southwest Pradesha Sabah head office.
Inthirarasa was the last elected Northern Provincial Council Councilor to take oaths.
Earlier almost all the 37 councilors including those two nominated from the available bonus seats have taken their oaths and subscribed to the constitutional requirements by eschewing separation and upholding the unity of the country.

Initially 21 Councillors elected for the Northern Provincial Council from TNA and the four Provincial Ministers took their oaths in Jaffna on 11th this month before Chief Minister C. V. Vigneshvaran.

Now almost all the elected Councilors have vowed that “…I will be faithful to the Republic of Sri Lanka and that I will to the best of my ability uphold and defend the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. "

On 17th October 7 ruling party councilors and the single Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Councilor took oats before Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Given below the content of the oath each Councilor took under the Sri Lanka Constitution:

Fourth Schedule

Articles 32, 53, 61, 107, 165:

"I ........................ solemnly declare and affirm / swear - that I will faithfully perform the duties and discharge the functions of the office of ........................................ in accordance with the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the law, and that I will be faithful to the Republic of Sri Lanka and that I will to the best of my ability uphold and defend the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. "
