By Quintus de Zylva
Melbourne, 29 October, (Asiantribune.com):

The Australia Sri Lanka Medical Aid Team celebrated it’s 7th Annual Charity Dinner Dance at the Malvern town hall on Saturday 26th October.

Craig Ondarchie MP and Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier of Victoria was guest of honor.

Craig was born in Sri Lanka and spoke fondly of his love and attachment to the country of his birth. He is hoping to join AuSLMAT when we visit Sri Lanka again from the 1st of June 2014.

All funds received at this function will be used to provide medical equipment to hospitals in Sri Lanka. We will once again send a forty foot container in May 2014 to await our arrival on the 1st of June.

We will visit the Deniyaya Rural Hospital in addition to the teaching hospitals at Batticaloa and Galle and the Valaichennai District Hospital. We also have requests for medical equipment from the Kibissa and Morawaka Hospitals which we will try and take with us. Free medical clinics will be conducted at Passikudah and Beralihela.

Dr. Sian Hughes – President of AuSLMAT and Dr. Jennifer Johns – Vice-President - addressed the capacity audience. Ranjini Dassenaike –AuSLMAT’s Events Co-ordinator was in charge of “A Taste of Paradise” and Tony Walles Catering provided a delicious smorgasbord whilst “The Clan” provided the music.
