Kadirgamar Institute strengthening collaboration with Diplomatic Academy of Moscow

Colombo, 30 October, (Asiantribune.com):

Mr. Asanga Abeyagoonasekera, Executive Director LKIIRSS was invited as a Young Global Leader for the World Economic Forum meeting held from October 17th to 23rd in Moscow, Russia.

During the meeting various critical issues such as institutional reforms, Russia's regional growth and fighting corruption were discussed.

Abeyagoonasekera met with the Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, Deputy Prime Minister, Arkady Dvorkovich, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Olga Dergunova, US Ambassador in Russia, Michael McFaul and many more eminent politicians, businessmen, social entrepreneurs and leading media persons.

Mr.Abeyagoonasekera visited the Diplomatic Academy of Moscow and met with Mr.Alexander Lukin Vice President of the Academy.

He presented the first research paper after the collaboration between the two institutes, titled "Future of Russia - South Asia Relations from a Sri Lankan Perspective" written by Chamara Sumanapala Research Analyst at Kadirgamar Institute.

The paper examines Russia's engagement with South Asia and Sri Lanka. The paper argued for increasing involvement of Russia in the region as an investor and a stabilizing power.
