New man takes over Tiger activities in France

Paris, 23 July, (Asiantribune.com): Tamil Tiger activities in France have been handed over Alain Anandane, a Tamil from Pondcherri, in South India. After the arrest of LTTE leader Parithi, alias Nadarajah Mahendran, who was the President of the Tamil Coordinating Committee (TCC) Alain Anandane has been handpicked to run the day-to-day affairs of the Tiger outfit in France, though Barani is kept as the nominal head.

Alain Anandane is a member of the Dungy Town Council located in the suburb of Paris.

Tamil Tigers find him useful because of his political position which he uses to promote Tiger terrorists activities in France. He is also said to be on the pay roll of the Tigers.

The Tamil Tigers were lying low for sometime in France after the French Police rounded them up on last April Fool’s Day. Police arrested 18 LTTE members and took away documents and files from the Tiger offices.

The anti-terrorists police in France (SDAT - Sous-direction Anti Terroriste) searched the offices of the Tamil Coordinating Committee, a front of the Tamil Tigers, Tamil Rehabilitation Office, Muthumari Amman Temple and People Shop managed by the Tigers, and several houses of the LTTE big names in France.

Out of the 18 suspected Tiger members were produced before the courts the magistrate ordered 14 of them to be held in custody for four months. They are being investigated by the police.

The names and details of those held by the police are as follows:

1. Nadarajah Mathintharan alias Reagan alias Parithi – from Kayts,

2. Aravinthan Thureswamy alias Metha – From Chavakacheri

4. Balasingham Kantharuban alias Ruban - From Nedunkulam

5. Kandasamy Umakaran alias Karan – From Pungudutivu

12. Puthiyan Thayalan alias Thaya – From Puttur

13. Srikanthan Pratheepan – From Vidattaltivu

14. Markandu Jeyabalasingham alias Jeyabal – From Jaffna

These suspects are to be produced in the courts again on the 5th of August.

After the arrest of these hardcore Tiger cadres, their activities were subdued and they were lying low, but since of late they have resumed their operations.

After the arrest in France, British Police arrested A.C.Shantan the LTTE leader and the President of the British Tamil Association and the Youth League leader Lambert. Subsequently the Bank accounts of Shanthan were suspended. Tamil expatriates in Britain did not either organized or participated in any meeting protesting the arrests of Shanthan. No one in Britain came forward protest against the arrest of AC Shantan.

Later when arrangements were made to demonstrate against the Balck July and human rights violations by the Sri Lanka Government in the Trafalgar Square, British Police granted conditional permission. British Police insisted that during the demonstration the Tiger flags should not be taken in the demonstration and placards with images of Tiger leader should not be exhibited. British Police clearly made the organizers known that it would be a violations of Terrorist Act 2000 that in the protest march, if any attempts to propagate the activities of a proscribed terrorists organization.

However the situation in France is just the opposite. Though LTTE is a banned organization in France, Tamil Tigers are continuing with their propaganda activities without any obstruction from the Police.

Out of the 14 Tigers arrested many of them have accepted that they worked for the Tamil Tigers, the banned terrorist organization in France and also accepted that they were involved in forcefully collecting monies from the expatriate Tamils for the Tigers.

But evidence collected by the French Police reveal that they have been active agents of the LTTE...

Informed sources say that it will be difficult for the Tiger agents to disassociate themselves from the Tiger organization.
