Thank goodness, he saw only angels!

By S.H.Moulana - Riyadh.

Thmsanqa Jantjie, who performed fake sign language during Mandela’s memorial, is reported to have been admitted to a psychiatric hospital, according to his wife Siziwe.

Jantjie in his first interview after numerous complaints after his fake sign language, he said he started hearing voices and saw angels during the service.

Thank God, he saw angels and not devils, had it been so he would have definitely reacted violently.

Imagine how such a dangerous behavior in the midst of V.V.I.Ps from all over the world could have led to!

South African news website eNCA reported that Jantjie has faced charges for rape (1994), theft (1995), housebreaking (1997), malicious damage to property (1998), murder, attempted murder and kidnapping (2003) charges.

Jantjie has said that his hallucinations began while he was interpreting and that he tried not to panic because there were armed policemen around him.

He added that he was once hospitalized in a mental health facility for more than one year.

He said he worked for a company called SA Interpreters, which had been hired by the ruling ANC for the ceremony at Johannesburg’s 95,000-seat Soccer stadium.

He has been paid a sum of US $ 85.00 for the job. Now it is learnt that the company has ‘vanished into thin air’ without any trace.

Sign experts who watched Jantjie said he was repeatedly signing ‘prawns’ and ‘rocking horse’ which were not in the speeches made by the speakers at the ceremony.

Now his wife has apologized to all those sign language readers for her husband’s mistake due to the condition he developed.

She also has shown a shopping bag full of medicines, in a TV interview that her husband has been using daily.

However, the fault squarely falls on Zuma’s government.
Let it not pretend that it is the signer’s fault. The whole blame lies with those who employed him to do the signing.

If someone went to a hospital and said that he was a brain surgeon would he be in the operating-theater next week drilling someone’s skull open?

Unlike the late Mandela, Zuma is a highly controversial figure and the boos he received from the large audience, at the memorial, as he got up to speak will bear testimony to this fact.
