Most Senior Diplomat - New Head of Sri Lanka’s External Affairs Ministry

Colombo, 17 January, (Asiantribune.com):

Mrs. Kshenuka De Silva Senewiratne, a distinguished career diplomat, a member of the Sri Lanka Foreign Service since 1985 has been appointed as the new Foreign Secretary with effect from today.

She is the First Lady Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs and replaces outgoing Secretary Mr. Karunatillake Amunugama upon his retirement.

Mrs. Senewiratne, a friendly and colorful personality had her primary and secondary school education at Ladies College, Colombo and graduated from the University of Salford, UK with a Bachelor degree majoring Economics.

She subsequently obtained a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the University of Colombo. She is a Chevening Scholar at the University of Oxford where she completed Post Graduate Diploma in International Relations.

Mrs. Senewiratne is considered an expert on multi-lateral affairs as well as bi lateral affairs and was the Additional Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs prior to her new appointment.

Mrs. Senewiratne is the daughter of Mrs. Rupini Githa de Silva and Mr. Sathrine Deutram de Silva and is married to Suren Senewiratne.
