President Rajapaksa arrived in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, 21 January, (Asiantribune.com):

President Mahinda Rajapaksa who left yesterday afternoon on a one-day visit to Abu Dhabi, was welcomed by the Chairman of the Department of Municipal Affairs Mr. Majed Ali Al Mansouri at the Abu Dhabi International Airport.

According to reports Sri Lanka President is on a visit to attend the Zayed Future Energy Prize Awards Ceremony which took place yesterday.

According to the Prize website, the annual award “celebrates achievements that reflect impact, innovation, long-term vision and leadership in renewable energy and sustainability.” Among the finalists for this year’s award include multinational companies such as General Electric (GE) and Walmart, among others.

Whilst in Abu Dhabi, President Rajapaksa is expected to hold several bilateral meetings with officials in the country today and meet with the Sri Lankan community living in the emirate.

Sri Lanka’s Ambassador in the United Arab Emirates Dr. Mahinda Balasuriya will be associated with Sri Lankan President and also Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris and Monitoring MP of the Ministry of External Affairs Mr. Sajin de Vass Gunawardena are a part of the delegation .
