Tips to Save Energy

Colombo, 04 September, ( In an initiative to promote energy efficient practices and to facilitate businesses to reduce their energy costs, The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce is organizing a seminar on “Practical Tips to Save Energy and Reduce your Energy Cost” to be held on Friday, the 7th of September 2007 in the Ground Floor Auditorium of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

At a time when fuel prices in the world market are at their highest levels in several decades, energy conservation and reducing energy bills have become of paramount importance for all types of business organizations. It is in response to these concerns that The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce is hosting this seminar. Companies in various sectors of importance that have adopted energy efficient practices and those that offer energy efficiency solutions have been invited to share their experiences with the wider private sector.

Speaking at the seminar on ‘Energy Cost Management in the Plantation Sector’ will be Mr. Dilantha Seneviratne from Talawakelle Tea Estates PLC. ‘Optimizing Energy at the Factory and Office’ will be addressed by Mr. Janaka Ginige from the Ceylon Tobacco Company, and Mr. Sri Lal Mittapala from Serendib Leisure Management Ltd. will highlight ‘Enhancing Energy Efficiency in the Hotel Sector’. They will speak on these areas through case studies and personal experiences in their respective organizations and will thus be providing practical tips that other companies could also adopt.

Additionally, Mr. Chris Corea from RISCOR Consultants (Pvt) Ltd. will educate the audience on ‘Optimizing Transport Resources’, while Mr. Mahendra S. Jayalath from EnergySolve International (Pvt) Ltd. will speak on the ‘Benefits of Energy Efficiency Measures to the Apparel Sector.’

These organizations have succeeded in reducing their electricity/energy bill by embracing new techniques of production and administration, and others are invited to take a cue from them to implement similar effective measures.

The presentations will be followed by an Open Forum where all the speakers will be joined by Mr. Harsha Wickremasinghe from the Energy Conservation Fund. The seminar will be chaired by Mr. J. D. Bandaranayake, the Deputy Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
