Kamalendran and other two suspects remanded till 20 March

Colombo, 06 March, (Asiantribune.com):

Kayts Magistrate S. Lenin Kumar further remanded the three accused persons - Kandasamy Kamalendran, Leader of the Opposition in the Northern Provincial Council and Lundan Sasindran and Rexigan's wife Enida Rexigan for the fifth time, until 20h March in the murder of Delft Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Daniel Rexigan.

The three accused persons were produced yesterday at the Kayts Court before Magistrate S. Lenin Kumar for inquiry in the murder case of Delft Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Daniel Rexigan.

Daniel Rexigan who was also a leading member of the Eelam Peoples Democratic Party led by Minister Douglas Devananda was found dead with head injuries at his residence in Punkudithivu on November 26.

Earlier, Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officers arrested Kamalendran on 3rd December and his office assistant Lundan Sasindran and Rexigan's wife Enida Rexigan on 2nd December, in connection with the murder of Delft Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Daniel Rexigan and produced them before before the Kayts Magistrate on 3rd December.

When they were produced in the Courts, the Magistrate initially remanded the three suspects for 14 days until 17th of December and again the three suspects were remanded for the second time for another 14 days, until 31st December.

On the third time all the three suspects were remanded until 9th January. Again on the fourth time, on January 9th Police produced the three suspects at the Kayts courts and the Magistrate remanded them until 27th of January.

When they produced for the fifth time, on 27th January the three suspects were remanded until February 06. On the sixth time, on 6th February three suspects were ordered to be remanded up to 19th of February.
