Dawoodi Bohra head visits Sri Lanka

Colombo, 02 April, (Asiantribune.com):

The Spiritual Head of the lnternational Dawoodi Bohra Community His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin arrived in Colombo on Monday evening for a short visit in the island.

This is the first visit by His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin after he became the 53rd Dai-ul-Mutlaq, after the sad demise of his father and previous Spiritual Leader Dr. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin

Dr. Syedna Burhanuddin who visited Sri Lanka several times during his leadership and maintained strong ties with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, passed away on 17 January, 2014 in Mumbai. He was 103 years of age at the time of his death.

Soon after the Leader’s demise, President Rajapaksa had visited the Bohra Mosque in Colombo to offer his condolences to the 3,000 strong Bohra followers.

Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, who was appointed as the successor and the 53rd Spiritual Head by his late father, was grandly welcomed by his followers on Monday evening and a three day program has been organised in the island.

Several Bohra followers from lndia, Pakistan, Kuwait and other countries have arrived in the island to seek blessings from His Holiness.
