Thavarasa of EPDP nominated as new UPFA Councilor of Northern Provincial Council

Sinnathurai Thavarasa of the EPDP has been nominated as Northern Provincial Councilor replacing Kandasamy Kamalendran who is now in remand prison for allegedly being one of the three suspects in a murder case.

Kandasamy Kamalendran, the former Leader of the Opposition in the Northern Provincial Council and Lundan Sasindran and Rexigan's wife Enida Rexigan are in the remand prison in connection with the murder of Delft Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Daniel Rexigan on 26 November 2014 and later Kamalendran has been removed from the membership of EPDP as well as from the UPFA.

According to Elections Commissioner, Mahinda Deshapriya, after the removal Kandasamy Kamalendran from the Party Membership Sinnathurai Thavarasa a former EPDP parliamentarian and an advisor to Minister Douglas Devananda has been nominated as the Councilor of the Northern Provincial Council.
