Kanthapuranam Reading and recitation comments at Maviddapuram Kandasamy Temple on 14th April- New Year day.

K.T.Rajasingham, Chief Editor of Asian Tribune and the Advisor of Maviddapuram Kandasamy Temple Restoration Committee invitation of was also present at the inaugural session on the invitation Maharajasri D.S.Ratnasabapathy Kurukkal.

Kantha Puranam is the Tamil version of the sanskrit epic, Skanda Puranam. It was written by Kachiyappa Sivachariar of Kumara Kottam at Kanchipuram.

The Kantha Purânam was intended to be recited aloud in Tamil to audiences who were already well-acquainted with the marvelous career of Lord Murugan.

The original version of the Kantha Purânam kept at the temple is Palm leaf manuscripts said to be more than onethousand years old was read by the chief priest to inaugurate the Reading and Reciting ceremony.

According to arrangement by the Chief Priest Pandits would read and recite Kantha Puranam daily for more than two-hours in the presence of devotees until 2nd July at the Temple.
