Ceylon Motor Show 2007

Colombo, 06 November, ( Ceylon Motor Traders Association (CMTA) is organizing their first Motor Show – Ceylon Motor Show 2007 (CMS) which will be held for three days commencing from 30th November at the BMICH.

At the Press Conference held to give details of the CMS, Senake D Amerasinghe, Chairman, CMTA said that the motor vehicle industry is growing in Sri Lanka as where earlier 85 percent of the vehicles were used ones and only 15 percent were new vehicles, today the trend has changed drastically as of today 50 percent of the vehicles used are new and only the other 50 percent is used ones.

CMS will cover the entire spectrum of the motor industry featuring everything from day to day runabout vehicles to some of the most respected and illustrious marques from around the world

Some of the main objectives of the Show are to provide an opportunity for CMTA member organizations and related organizations to showcase their products and services and also the latest developments and technologies that have taken place in the global automobile industry. Opportunity to everyone is given to experience a motor show on par with international shows.

CMTA has decided to invite non-CMTA member organizations that are currently importing new motor vehicles to Sri Lanka and also organizations dealing in motor related accessories and services as exhibitors at this Show.

The Ceylon Motor Traders’ Association was formed under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in 1919 with the following objectives:

Promoting, fostering and protecting the welfare and the business interests of the motor vehicle franchise holders of Sri Lanka; offering membership to any franchise holding organization, firm or person engaged in the motor trade, including importation, exportation, distribution, repairing, servicing, maintaining or manufacturing of motor vehicles and Playing a dynamic role in activities towards the development of the motor industry in the country as a group of individual organizations with a common direction.
