Reading camps for Sri Lankan school children

Colombo, 10 November, (Asiantribune.com): The American Center will hold a series of reading camps for Sri Lankan children with the objective of improving their reading, listening and writing skills. Children from local schools including those, who participated in a previous story telling session with the U.S. Ambassador Robert Blake, will take part in these sessions.

These reading camps are organized in collaboration with Sadeepa Publishers, Colombo.

Ambassador Blake will join in the Colombo story telling session and this session will be connected with the school children in Maldives with the help of digital video conferencing facility. Ambassador Robert Blake will also read stories written by some children.
Mr. Steven Kerchoff, Regional Information Officer from U.S. Embassy, New Delhi will also attend this event.

Colombo reading camp:

Where: American Center Auditorium, 44, Galle Road, Colombo 3
When: November 13, 2007 from 1030 to mid-day

Kandy reading camp:

Where: American Corner at the Public Library, Kandy
When: November 15 to 17
Kandy sessions will be conducted by Ms. Kathleen Fox, Cultural and Press Officer and Mr. Steven Kerchoff, Information Resources Officer from New Delhi will join in the Kandy story telling session on November 15.
