Neomal Perera officiates Sri Lanka Honorary Consulate in Zurich

Zurich, 04 July, (Asiantribune.com):

After his appointment as Sri Lanka Honorary Consul for the Zurich Canton in March 2014 under the guidance of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Berlin, Vidarshana Munasinghe has arranged a series of events officiating his functions.

In April, religious ceremonies were held at the Consulate. The declaration of opening of the Consulate by the Deputy Minister of External Affairs Neomal Perera on 11th June 2014 was followed by an evening reception with the participation of the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Germany & Switzerland Sarath Kongahage, the Permanent Representative / Consul General of Sri Lanka in Geneva Ravinatha Ariyasinghe, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the WTO Nimal Karunatilake, and Consul General of Sri Lanka in Frankfurt Pradip Jayewardene.

The Guest of Honour of the evening was Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabral. Mark Dangel of the Swiss Asian Chamber of Commerce and other Honorary Consuls were among the participants.

A large number of expatriate Sri Lankan community in Switzerland participated at all these events and highly appreciated the decision of the Sri Lanka Government on the reopening of the Consulate in Zurich, as it would immensely help to solve their day-to-day consular matters without visiting the far-away Sri Lanka Consulate in Geneva.
