The indigestion of politics!

By S.H.Moulana - Riyadh

Yes, this indigestion is caused by the round the clock politics and mushrooming political parties, especially in South East Asia.

Don’t be surprised to see a one man party and strangely enough, sometimes, he will turn out to be the king maker in tipping the balance of power for a slightly bigger party to rule and thus duly awarded a top post in the cabinet.

Politics has been so much dirtied by the so called politicians by politicizing almost every issue including religion and race.

This has kept the educated, the intelligent and respectable class of people totally out of politics.

The famous Greek philosopher Plato said: ‘One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.’

In developed countries you will not see anything more than two or three parties the most.

In the UK we have three parties, Conservative, Labor and the Liberals and in the US there are only two parties namely the Republican and the Democrat.

See the standard of politics these politicians maintain from what the late president John F. Kennedy, who was a democrat, had to say: ‘Let us not seek the Republican answer or Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not fix the blame for the past.

Let us accept our own responsibility for the future. Instead of improving the standard of politics in the East, it has dropped to the rock bottom level and thereby enabling the inferiors to rule, as the great Plato said.
