Gotabaya Rajapaksa arrived and left the Bribery Commission within half an hour

Colombo, 23 April, (Asiantribune.com):

Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa who arrived at the Bribery Commission this morning and left the Commission within half an hour.

He was summoned to record a statement over various allegations, including the Avant-Garde Securities and Rakna Araksha Lanka, left the Commission within half an hour after his lawyers requested more time as the matter he was questioned was different from the one which was informed to him.

Meanwhile, a tense situation prevailed due to a protest staged by several organizations and political parties including Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) outside the Commission against the summoning of Rajapaksa.

The protest was carried out against the summoning of Rajapaksa, despite an order issued by the Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday banning the protest. –

He left the premises after thanking his supporters who had launched a protest outside the commission against the summons given him.
