Chandrika Condoles Over Deaths and Destruction In Nepal

Colombo, 28 April, (Asiantribune.com):

Former Sri Lanka President Madam Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has conveyed her heartfelt condolences to those families of victims of the massive earthquake in Nepal last Saturday.

Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga in a message sent yesterday to Ram Baran Yadav, President Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal said that she was devastated to learn of the catastrophe caused by a massive earthquake in Nepal last Saturday.

She also has said, I together with the people of Sri Lanka am deeply distressed about this tragedy and the large number of deaths and injury to people that has been caused by it.

“We are also deeply saddened to learn of the destruction caused to precious religious and cultural monuments, including UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Kathmandu valley, that have been severely damaged by the earthquake,” said Chandrika Kumaratunga.

Former Sri Lankan President added, “I extend my profound sympathy to you, the Government and the people of Nepal and in particular to the families of the victims. I extend my best wishes for the speedy recovery of those injured, and to your Excellency and the Government for swift and successful reparation of the damage caused by this disaster.”
