TNA Supports A New National Government

By K.T.Rajasingham
Colombo, 19 August, (Asiantribune.com):

The Tamil National Alliance leader reiterates that they would support a Government which would endorse the verdict of the people given in the Presidential election on 8th January.

When Asian Tribune contacted R.Sampanthan, octogenarian, at his Trincomalee home, just after the Parliamentary elections – 2015, results for the Trincomalee electoral district made public, he was very forthcoming and magnanimous in reiterating his earlier position on the TNA’s support to form a National Government.

Sampanthan said, if I have to tell you our position, “we will support the National Government which would endorse the silent revolution of 8th January – the peoples mandate for a positive change in the country.

Already TNA which contested on the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchchi’s ‘House’ symbol has polled some 515,963 (4.62%) votes and secured 14 seats - plus 2 bonus seats, adding up to 16 seats.

When Asian Tribune asked Sampanthan whether TNA would take Ministerial slots in the National Government, Sampanthan said that it was very premature for him to make any comments, but said that he would announce their potion as things begin to shape up.

In the General Election from the Jaffna electoral district, EPRLF Chief, the Leader of the dreaded Mandayan Group, was the worst causality this time.

Suresh Premachandran, the former spokesperson of the TNA is no more in the limelight and it was commented as a welcome defeat of a former militant, who has contributed nothing to Tamils ethos, Tamil nationalism and politics.

From Jaffna, the former national list MP MA Sumanthiran has won convincingly and also the PLOTE leader Dharmalingham Sidharthan.
