Notorious SLFP Jaffna candidate put on national list after election loss – Tamil Guardian

London, 23 August, (

Tamil Guardian, a pro-LTTE , pro-Tamil nationalistic news website has gone hammer and tongs on the appointment of Ankajan Ramanathan who has been rejected by Tamils as the national list MP.

The SLFP's Jaffna organiser Angajan Ramanathan was selected as a national list member of parliament by the UPFA, after failing to be elected in the district, Tamil Guardian has published it in their news website.

Furthermore Tamil Guardian has also alleged that, Mr Ramanathan is suspected to have been behind attacks and abductions as he carried out the Rajapaksa brothers' bidding while the SLFP was in power before January this year.

Also Tamil Guardian was highly critical on the appointment of Mahinda Rajapaksa's former human rights adviser Mahinda Samarasinghe was also selected as a national list MP after failing to get elected.

Mr Samarasinghe was the government's representative at key UN Human Rights Council sessions in Geneva in previous years.
