The South African Tamil Federation Congratulates Tamil National Alliance

Johannesburg, 27 August, (Asiantribune.com):

The South African Tamil Federation ( SATF) has placed on record its congratulations to the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) leadership, on the resounding election victory in the Eastern and Northern Provinces of Sri Lanka.

The SATF in its message said that, “This victory sends a very clear message that the people in Sri Lanka want change and that change should take place immediately.”

The press release said, “The SATF will be waiting for the outcomes of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) report on the atrocities that took place in 2009, where it was estimated that over 40,000 Tamil speaking people were killed.”

The press release also said, “We hope that the TNA been one of the kingpins in support with the majority political party engages in political negotiations with the new Government that will secure peace , stability , political and economic rights for the Tamil speaking people in Sri Lanka.”

The SATF is the spokesperson for the 650,000 Tamil speaking people in South Africa that has Provincial Structures in 7 Provinces of South Africa.
