Earlier, On the initiative undertaken by Asian Tribune’s Editor, French Government banned, the Tamil Television Network - TTN channel run by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. After TTN channel was banned they came up with another channel called Tharishanam, Thenral, GTV and Mathuram.

Tigers converted the Deepam TV channel, which is originally from UK as a Pay channel in Europe and they are now raising significant funds.

The LTTE is of the view that it is important to continue with their aggressive propaganda campaign radicalizing the Tamil diaspora in Europe , Sri lanka and South India. The new Tamil TV channel will take forward their propaganda as well as their disinformation campaign against the Government of Sri Lanka with the intention of breaking up Sri Lanka.

The plan of the LTTE front organizations overseas is three folds. First, build up their finances and political base while work with the TNA, the political wing of the LTTE, to campaign for federalism. Second, pressurize the Sri Lankan government through TNA to delist LTTE front organizations overseas. Third, demand a referendum in the north and east for separation from the rest of Sri Lanka.

The LTTE organizations overseas designated under UN Security Council Resolution 1373 include –

01. Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam a.k.a LTTE a.k.a Tamil Tigers.

The new television station is managed by Tamil Coordinating Committee (TCC), a UN designated terrorist entity, and the Norwegian Council of Eelam Tamils (NCCT).

As NCCT is not designated, NCCT projects itself as a community organization and receives funds from the Norwegian government.

Both are led by Nediyawan, the successor to Prabhakaran. Among the other terrorist fronts campaigning through the TNA to delist them are the Canadian Tamil Congress, Australian Tamil Congress, British Tamil Forum and the Global Tamil Forum. Both the directing figures and members of these designated terrorist entities supported LTTE propaganda, fund raising and procurement activities.
