Parliament adjourned, UNP MP Sandith Samarasinghe suffered injuries admitted to National Hospital

Colombo, 03 May, (Asiantribune.com):

UNP National List MP Sandith Samarasinghe was admitted to the National Hospital after he suffered face and head injuries during a clash in Parliament.

A tense situation prevailed in Parliament resulting in a clash, while MP Sarath Fonseka was speaking on the withdrawal of the army security provided to former president and MP Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Joint Opposition Members of Parliament shouted slogans against the reduction of Rajapaksa's security when Minister Sarath Fonseka started to speak .

Fonseka made a statement on the withdrawal of Army security from former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s security detail, while criticizing the conduct of Rajapaksa.

The joint opposition took to the middle of the house and began the agitation staging a protest against a statement made by Parliamentarian Sarath Fonseka.

The Parliament was suspended for five minutes after a brawl broke out inside the Chamber.

UNP National List MP Sandith Samarasinghe suffered face and head injuries during a clash in Parliament, and was hospitalized.
