10-Nation biking expedition by four woman bikers

The four brave woman bikers from a biking club, Biking Queens, who have been on their 10-Nation biking Expedition, have left Kohima, the State capital of Nagaland, this morning for their onward biking expedition to other ASEAN countries via Imphal and Moreh, border town of Manipur.

Maj General MS Jaswal, IGAR (N) flagged off 10-nation biking expedition by the four-woman bikers in a colorful program held this morning at 3 Assam Rifles, Kohima. He lauded them for their biking expedition touching 10 nations of South Asia and South East Asia with the noble cause of spreading “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.” He wished them all the best in their mission.

The four woman bikers - Dr Sarika Mehta, Yugma Desai, Khyati N Desai and Durriya M Tapia – are all from Gujarat.

Dr. Mehta, who is the leader of the team, while talking to the press before leaving for Imphal for their onward biking expedition to other ASEAN countries, said they belonged to a biking club – The Biking Queens – having 60 women bikers. She said they would be riding their bikes for more than 10,000 kms covering 10 countries in a span of 36 days and it was a “testimony of women’s determination and willpower.” The expedition is to spread the message of the noble cause, “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao,” she added.

Assam Rifles, members from State Resource Center for Women (SRCW) also felicitated the four woman bikers from Biking Queens. SRCW also lauded them for taking such inspirational 10-Nation expedition to spread the message of “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.”

This 10-nation biking expedition by the four brave women from Gujarat started from June 4 at Surat, Gujarat. They reached Nagaland yesterday, June 15.

The message “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” is a movement launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to save and educate the girl child, thereby giving them equal opportunity in the society.
