Two NIB Police Officers sustained Sword Attack in Broad Daylight At Chunnakam

Colombo, 24 October, (Asiantribune.com):

Two police officers attached to the National Intelligence Bureau were attacked in Chunnakam yesterday and hospitalized with injuries due to a sword attack by a group of six sword wielding unidentified persons, who came in two motorcycles covering their faces, who had allegedly stabbed them.

They were identified as Police Sergeant Nawarathne and Police Constable Herath.

One officer sustained head injuries while the other was injured on his hand.

The injured officers were rushed to Tellipalai Government Hospital and were subsequently transferred to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

The condition of the injured is said to be not critical.

The officers were attacked in front of a cloth shop, almost opposite Chunnakam Cargills Food City by unidentified persons yesterday.

“The gang had attacked the two Police officers on the K.K.S road in Chunnakam around 2 p.m.
