President Sirisena paid last respect to the former King of Thailand

President Maithripala Sirisena has paid last respect to the body of former King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej

The President offered a floral tribute and also signed the guest book.

President Maithripala Sirisena who left for Thailand yesterday returned to the island last night.

Minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe and Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Thailand, Kshenuka Seneviratne accompanied the President to pay last respect to Thailand’s late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, according to a release by the Information Department.

Heads of states around the world are arriving in Thailand to pay their last respect to the remains of former King.

The world’s longest-reigning monarch King Adulyadej died on the 13th of October aged 88. The Thai government has declared a year-long official mourning period.
