Four people – one Army personnel and three civilians died in the Colombo bomb explosion

Colombo, 02 January, (Asiantribune.com): Four people died and 23 were injured this morning in a suspected LTTE roadside bomb blast at the heart of Colombo. The blast took place at 9.30 am adjacent to the landmark Hotel Nippon, Union Place, on the Kumaran Ratnam Road, and was aimed at a passing SL Army bus. The blast took place at the very vicinity of Sri Lanka Army HQ in Colombo.

Among the dead were 1 army soldier and 3 civilians said by Military spokesperson Brigadier Udaya Nanyakkara.

National Hospital Director Dr. Anil Jasinghe said 7 Army personnel and civilians 17 were admitted to hospital. Four of the wounded has succumbed to their wounds.
