SAITM has not received the approval of the UGC - COPE

Colombo, 10 March, (Asiantribune.com):

The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMO) Secretary, Dr. Naveen de Zoysa, said that since the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) had revealed that SAITM had not received the approval of the University Grants Commission (UGC), all politicians and officials connected to the issue should be brought before the COPE.

He further said the GMOA believes that the President would guide the authorities during the process in Parliament in connection with SAITM.

The GMOA had already requested all MPs to take part in the SAITM debate which was to be held on 9th March.

Dr. de Zoyza reiterated that it was the former Higher Education Minister who had brought the SAITM issue into such a critical point.
