Strong earthquake hits one of Indonesia’s Islands -Sulawesi

Jakarta, 30 May, (Asiantribune.com):

An earthquake with magnitude 6.8 occurred 27km NW of Kasiguncu,Sulawesi, Jakarta, 30 May, (Asiantribune.com):, Indonesia at 14:35:21.09, UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), May 29, 2017.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) estimate up to 200,000 people could have felt “strong” to “very strong” shaking during the quake.

Indonesia is located on the infamous Ring of Fire, a area in the basin of the Pacific Ocean where a large number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur.

The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics said there was no threat of a tsunami.
