Kapila Hendawitharana grilled for eight hours

Colombo, 15 June, (Asiantribune.com):

Former National Intelligence Chief Maj Gen (Retd) Kapila Hendawitharana was grilled at the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) for nearly eight hours, while recording a statement on an allegation that he had fraudulently transferred funds from several organizations to his personal bank account.

He arrived at the FCID at 9.00 a.m. and he was questioned till 5.30 p.m.

In May 2015, Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris granted the FCID permission to probe all accounts of the former Intelligence Chief, Major General (Retd.) Kapila Gamini Hendawitharana when allegations emerged of illegal monetary transactions in his name linked to Luxembourg.

In the meantime , the CID is conducting separate investigations into his alleged involvement in kidnappings and disappearances during the previous government, police sources said.
