Austin Fernando appointed the new Secretary to the President.

Colombo, 04 July, (Asiantribune.com):

Former Governor of the Eastern Province and veteran administrator Austin Fernando has assumed duties as the new Secretary to the President.

Austin Fernando accepted his letter of appointment from the President Maithripala Srisena this morning.

Taking to Twitter, President Maithripala Sirisena said Austin Fernando will add great strength to the country’s public service.

Austin Fernando was appointed as the new Secretary following the resignation of former Secretary P. B. Abeykoon.
Prior to the new appointment, Austin Fernando served as the Governor of the Eastern Province.

He has also served in the capacity of the Secretary of Defense

Meanwhile, President Sirisena handed over letters of appointment to several other posts this morning.

Accordingly, Former Additional Solicitor-General Kapila Waidyaratne assumed duties as the Secretary of Defence, while Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake took office as the Commander-in-Chief of the Army.

Furthermore, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Rohitha Bogollagama has been appointed the new Governor of the Eastern Province.
