Rohitha Bogollagama - the new Governor of the Eastern Province

Colombo, 05 July, (Asiantribune.com):

President Maithripala Sirisena appointed former Minister of Foreign Affairs Rohitha Bogollagama as the new Governor of the Eastern Province.

Mr. Bogollagama takes over the vacancy left behind by former Governor Austin Fernando, who was appointed as the Permanent secretary to the President following the resignation of P.B. Abeykoon..

Bogollagama, a lawyer by profession, has served as the Cabinet Minister of Foreign Affairs from 28 January 2007 until he was defeated in the General Elections held on 8 April 2010, losing his seat in parliament.
