Pilliyan remanded till November 16

Batticalo, 26 July, (Asiantribune.com):

Former Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillaiyan, also former TMVP National Coordinator and at present Eastern Provincial Councillor, was arrested in connection with the assassination of Parliamentarian Joseph Pararajasingham, and remanded. His remand was extended on 36 occasions in the past.

TMVP leader and former Eastern Provincial Councillor Sivanesadurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan and four other suspects alleged to have been involved in the murder of Batticaloa District MP Joseph Pararajasingam were further remanded till November 16.

Batticaloa High Court Judge M.Y.M. Izzadeen issued the order when Chandrakanthan, Edwin Silwa Krishnanantharaja, K. Kanaganayagam, Army Intelligent officer M. Kaleel and former Army officer K.A. Mathusinghe were produced before courts yesterday.

Joseph Pararajasingam was shot dead on December 25, 2005, and Pilliyan was arrested in connection with the murder on November 10, 2015.
