Three Northern Provincial Councilors Summoned By CID In Jaffna Today

Jaffna, 31 July, (Asiantribune.com):

Three Northern Provincial Councilors - M.K.Sivajilingham, S. Pasupathipillai and M.Thiagarajah are summoned today to the CID office in Jaffna, for investigation and record statement.

The provincial councilors have been told that there are about six complaints against them made by a few Sinhala groups and hence they have been summoned to record their statements at the Police CID office in Jaffna.

‘Asian Tribune,’ learnt that a special team of officials from Colombo has already arrived at the Jaffna CID office, to grill the three provincial councilors.

Earlier, it was told only M.K.Sivajilingham has only been summoned to be present at the Head Office of the Criminal Investigation Department located in Colombo, to record statement over his derogatory and threatening comments to a Buddhist Monk during President Maithripala Srisena’s recent visit to Mullaitivu and regarding a statement he made at the Jaffna Press Club regarding the Mullivakkal ceremony.

He told the police officers who served him with a summons that he was not a position to travel to Colombo and he was prepared to make statement at the Police Station at Valvetiturai.

In the meantime, it is now learnt that CID has summoned the other two provincial councilors also, who have jointly associated in the press conference held at the Jaffna Press Club along with Sivajilingham on 8th May.
