TELO Demands Deniswaran resignation within 24 hours.
The politburo of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO) has rejected the ‘grace period plea,’ by B.Deniswaran, the Northern Provincial Council Minister and told him flatly to resign within 24 hours, from his ministerial portfolio.
TELO is one of the three former Tamil militant groups, constituting in the Tamil National Allaiance (TNA), with Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchi (ITAK).
Its politburo recently met in Vavuniya and told Deniswaran, who was also present in that meeting, that his request for a grace period of 4 months, until end of December 2017, to tender resignation cannot be granted and he must resign within 24 hours.
Deniswaran, Minister of Fisheries, Transport, Trade and Commerce, Rural Development, Road Development and Motor Traffic, in the Northern Provincial Council, is one of the six Northern provincial councilors representing the TELO.
However, he was one of the sixteen signatories along with the ITAK councilors in the no-confidence motion against the chief minister Wigneswaran.
TELO, which has not decided to support the no-confidence motion, initiated by the ITAK, took exception to this act and demanded Deniswaran to resign and also called for his explanation.
The Secretary General of TELO N. Srikantha wrote to the Chief Minister Vigneswaran conveying his Party’s decision to replace Deniswaran with the appointment with Kanagaratnam Vithan, as one of the four provincial council ministers.
Subsequently, the Chief Minister responded agreeing to replace Deniswaran, with party’s nominee Vinthan before 20th August.
In the meantime, 'Asian Tribune' learnt that TELO has demanded the resignation of Deniswaran from his portfolio on the 12th of this month and so far he has not tendered his resignation.
