Southern Commander of Indian Army Paid Floral Tribute to Demised IPKF Soldier

Jaffna, 20 August, (Asiantribune.com):

The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command of the Indian Army, Lieutenant General P.M Hariz was in Jaffna yesterday to pay floral tribute to Late Captain Path Vall of the IPKF, who demised in action in Kopay in 1987.

The visiting delegation, comprised of Lieutenant General P.M Hariz and his spouse, Mrs Zarina Hariz, Major General V.K Singh and his spouse, Mrs Mona Singh, Colonel S Kaushal, Military Assistant to the Southern Commander and his spouse, Mrs Jyotsna Kaushal were present yesterday

Late Captain Path Vall a colleague of the Indian Southern Command was in charge of the IPKF Division at Vellavaikkal Piradiyady, located in the Kopay Raja Veethy. He was killed during the confrontation with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

The forsaken tomb of the slain Indian Army officer was found located in a private land in Kopay.

“Asian Tribune,” learnt that the Sri Lankan Army officers of the 51 Division, visited the abandoned tomb located at Kopay, which was located in a private land, held discussion with owner of the private land and with his consent cleared the place around the tomb.

Once the abandoned tomb was cleared by the Sri Lankan Army and the visiting South Indian Army delegation led by Lieutenant General P.M Hariz paid floral tribute to the forgotten slain Indian soldier.

Earlier Lieutenant General P.M Hariz and his delegation arrived at Palay Sri Lanka Security Forces Complex and they were received by the Jaffna Security Forces Commander Major General D.U.K. Hettiarachi.
