Glitz, glamour mark ‘Creator of Cleopatra’ Show

Meher of Meher Makeup and Hairstyle won three prizes at the “Beautician Contest 2017 Creator of Cleopatra” award night held at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai recently.

Popular Tamil actress and TV panelist Kasturi, former Member of Parliament and prominent woman leader Vasanthy Stanley, noted international fashion designer Sheela Armani and President of America Tamil Sangam Prakash M Swamy gave away the awards.

More than 360 beauticians from all over South India participated under one roof in the competitions organized to recognize the talents in the field - bridal makeup, hair style and mehendi. The show was organized by Maya Events. Sivasankari Sundar, head of programs of Cauvery TV Channel and Aruna R was among the guests attended the event.

The event witnessed several firsts that were sent to Guinness Book of World Records – P. Shanmugapriya, a Chennai-based beautician, did 28 different Indian bridal hairstyles in less than three hours; fifty different hairstyles for 50 blind women blind fold by a beautician Elageswari and Honest Raj who did mimicry with 120 different voices in six minutes.

Meher won second prize in hairstyle with Sajini Pandy as model, third prize in bridal makeup with Payal as model and overall trophy for among ten best beauticians.

Meher specializes in wedding bridal, fashion show, portfolio make up and mehendi for the past five years and have done over 500 weddings, party makeup, and portfolio all over the South India.

Model Rutva Shah, who took part in the contest, said the event provided opportunities to show case talents in makeup and modeling. Meher said perhaps this is the first time such an event is happening in Chennai and it would definitely help aspiring makeup artist to showcase their skills.

Mukta Pratap, the organizer, said there is lot of potential waiting to be tapped and the show was entered in the India Book of Records and pending with Guinness Book of World Records for gathering such a large number of makeup artists under one roof.

Shiva of Pro Makeup Studio, Maneka of Frizzda Salon, Latha Arunkumar, Latha Manikaraj were judges for the various competitions.
