Saudi ladies celebrate right to drive

By S.H.Moulana

In Saudi Arabia a jubilant atmosphere is prevailing among the women and they went onto greet each other on hearing the long awaited good news of the royal decree permitting women to drive.

A leading journalist of the country Faisal J. Abbas described it as ‘woman driving is a huge leap forward for Saudi Arabia’.

This land mark decision was announced by king Salman just three days after the kingdom celebrated its 87th national day.

This great news has made even the US president, Donald Trump, happy and to congratulate Saudi Arabia for the decision to join the rest of the world in allowing woman to drive.

He has called it a ‘positive step’ for the ultra-conservative kingdom. President Trump has commended the kingdom’s decision to affirm the right of women to drive in the country.

In the meantime president’s daughter, Ivanka, has congratulated Saudi Arabian women after king Salman issued an order allowing them to get behind the wheel. She went on to tweet ‘today was a historic day for women in Saudi Arabia as a decree was announced to lift the ban on women drivers.’

‘I am on top of the world’ said a woman member of the Shoura Council, Lina Almaeena from Bern, Switzerland, where she is part of the official Shoura Council delegation to Switzerland.

We extend our greetings to the jubilant Saudi ladies and say good luck and safe driving!
