Northern Provincial Councilor Rif Khan Resigns

Rifkhan Bthiyudeen a UPFA Northern Province Councilor has resigned from his post as a Provincial Council Member of the Northern Province.

He made his announcement of his resignation at the 107th session of the Northern Provincial Council Assembly held yesterday and handed over his resignation to V.K.Sivangnam, Chairman of the Assembly.

In his letter to the Council's Chairman, he has stated he is resigning on the instructions of his party. He had stated that the party can now appoint the person who has polled the next highest preferential votes in the last Provincial Council Election.

Rifkhan Bathiudeen is the brother of Industry and Commerce Minister Rishard Bathiudeen.

Rifkhan Bathiyuthen of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) was elected from Mannar District to the Northern Provincial Council and took oaths before President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees on 17 October 2013.

He served 3 1/2 years as an NPC Member.
