Shiva Sena Demands To Buy Goods For Deepavali Only From Hindu Tamil Sales Outlets

Vavuniya, 16 October, (Asiantribune.com):

Reports reveal of Shiva Sena back on track in the North, as posters are seen all over Vavuniya town dissuading Tamils from purchasing goods for Deepavali festival from any other shops, other than that owned by Hindu Tamils.

Posters called the Hindu Tamils, “Do your purchases for Deepavali in Hindu Tamil sales outlets and celebrate.”

Deepavali is the Hindu festival of lights celebrated by the Tamils in Sri Lanka and the festival falls on coming Wednesday 18th October.

The Posters put out in Vavuniya urged to avoid purchasing from non-Hindu Tamil shops to celebrate Deepavali.

Posters in the name of Shiva Sena and also cautioned the Hindu Tamil traders to be vigilant.

Shiv Sena, is a right-wing political party in Maharashtra, India and a group of Hindus in Sri Lanka has launched ‘Shiva Sena’, an organisation to “protect Hindus from threats from other religious groups” in the island and the group’s Chief Organizer is Maravanpulavu Sachithananthan.

He in an interview has claimed, “But we have their support,” of Shiva Sena in Maharastra.

In the meantime, Maravanpulavu Sachithananthan, leader of the Sri Lanka Chapter of Shiva Sena denied of any connection with posters put up in Vavuniya .

Sri Lanka’s Shiva Sena leader said that, their aim was to stop proselytization and campaign for an anti-conversion law in Sri Lanka.

Also he said, to stop the interferences of other religious groups in the promotion of Hinduism.

He also has stressed that Hindus should vote for Hindu Tamil candidates in the elections.
