Army to release 29 Acres of Land in Vasavilan

Jaffna, 29 November, (Asiantribune.com):

Sri Lanka Army has decided to release 29 acres of land in the Vasavilan area, which includes a church and a school.

Earlier, Army made arrangement to release this land on 29th- but due to an unavoidable circumstances the release has been postponed till tomorrow – 30th November.

The Sri Lanka Army is releasing the St. Anthony’s Church, and the school - RCTMS, located at Vadamoolai, Vasavilan after a lapse of 28 years. Sri Lanka Army took over the school and the church in July 1988.


An Army spokesman said that Army is clearing the area for tomorrows handing over ceremony.

Already Parish Priest Father Jeyakumar and others have visited the church and the school, and they have announced of their intention of renovating both for the use of the people of Vasavilan.

SF Commander Major General Dharshan Hettiarachchi is expected to hand over tomorrow, at a simple ceremony, the land that houses the church and school , to the Government Agent.
