A young leader for EU

By S.H.Moulana

French president, Emmanuel Macron is in place just in time -potentially- to take over the reins of European leadership. Angela Merkel’s poor showing in the German election, which has left her weakened and preoccupied with forming a new coalition.

Macron was the youngest ever president having been elected at the age of 39 years with a landslide. Macron studied philosophy at Paris Nanterre University and completed a Master’s of Public Affairs at Sciences Po, and graduated from the Ecole natinale d’administration.

His party secured a comfortable majority in the National Assembly, winning 350 seats out of 577. This youthful leader is set to take the leadership of EU from another gallant leader Angela Merkel. During Macron’s recent visit to UK, he persuaded British Prime Minister May to take more ‘humane approach’ to child migrants.

In the meantime we see the opposite under the man who declared the countries of colored people as ‘s**t hole’ and even planning to deport hundreds of thousands of people from these countries who are already there.

A reputed journalist, Eugene Robinson wrote ‘The rude petulant man-child in the Oval Office is reeling ever more wildly out of control, and those clinically or slavishly pretend otherwise are doing a grave disservice to the nation and to themselves.

Contrary to the cancelled visit of the US President, who were to face a record protest by the British people, the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst was the venue for UK-French summit meeting. It offered just the right blend of ceremony and substance for a president, Macron.

At least until the US comes out with a proper leadership it is nothing but wise for EU to have its own leadership like that of Angela Merkel and now the young Emmanuel Macron.

We wish this compassionate gentleman all the very best.
