How a talented singer was misled by an extremist cleric!

By S.H.Moulana

Fadel Shaker is an outstanding singer in the Arab world. This prominent Lebanese singer, during his musical career from 2003, was signed to many leading recording companies.

This well-loved artist was nicknamed as ‘King of Romance’ (Malikul Romancia) in the Arab music world. His scintillating voice captivated his fans in all over Arab world. His style of singing was altogether different from others.

His duets with famous Arab female singers like Alissa, Yara and Sherien have over 43 million, 33 million and 12 million views for each respectively.

Similarly his singles have been tremendously successful and highly popular.

In the latter part of 2011 he met an extremist cleric in Lebanon, who brainwashed him and he declared his allegiance to him.

Poor Fadel Shaker although he did not involve in his terrorist activities he lost all his wealth and the highly successful restaurant he ran.

The cleric who tried to fly out of Lebanon in disguise was caught and imprisoned.

Singer Fadel Shaker was tried in absentia by the armed forces and sentenced for six years imprisonment.

The singer is on the run and still to be caught while the Arab world is still starving for his music.

Radios and TVs have already ceased to broadcast/telecast his songs.

There are no new songs from Fadel Shaker but the old ones before his involvement with the cleric are still available on Youtube.

Many of his fans are of the view that the sentence of six years imprisonment is extremely severe since he has not committed any criminal act except for being a follower of the extremist cleric, who brainwashed this amazing talent to deprive the music lovers of their popular singer.

They have still not lost their hope for him.

Those who are starved for his style of music are waiting with their fingers crossed.
