Namal Denied Entering United States

Colombo, 22 March, (Asiantribune.com):

Sri Lankan Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has revealed that he was denied entry to the United States from Russia.

The 31-year-old Namal Rajapaksa was invited by the Russian government to be a monitor of the presidential election won by Vladimir Putin.

In a tweeter message, MP Rajapaksa said that the Emirates Airline officials in Moscow informed him that he cannot board a flight to Houston as US officials instructed the airline not to let him, board.

Valid reason yet to be received. The US has the Sovereign right of course. Sure it has nothing to do with my name, being part of #lka opposition or my travel from #Russia” he tweeted.

He added that no official reason had so far been conveyed to him as to why he has been prevented from traveling to the US.
