Would King be really proud of Trump?

By S.H.Moulana

US diplomats around the world were summoned for formal reproach, amid global shock over Donald Trump calling African nations, Haiti and Salvador as ‘Shitholes’.

It is a well-known fact that the colored people of the US are descendants of African countries like Trump’s parents descended from Germany.

We can never imagine that Martin Luther King Jr. would have ever loved to hear the remark ‘Shithole’ from the US president.

In a strongly worded statement the UN said it was impossible to describe the president’s remark as anything other than racist, while Vatican decried it as particularly harsh and highly offensive.

The 55 nation African Union said the remarks were ‘clearly racist’.

And now Steve Bannon, former Trump’s top strategist, has told the BBC that ‘Martin Luther King Jr. would have been proud of the US president Trump’s economic policies’.

In the meantime, Bernice King the only surviving daughter of King Jr has rubbished Bannon and had said Steve has dangerously and erroneously coopted my father’s name. Instead my father would be ‘extremely disturbed’ by the recent events and the utterances made by the US president.

She added that Donald Trump wholly ignores daddy’s commitment to people of all races, nationalities being treated with dignity and respect.

It is appropriate to recall here two of Martin Luther King’s quotes: ‘I want to be the white man’s brother, not his brother-in-law’ and ‘We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.’
